Aaron Shapiro
Aaron Shapiro is a poet, essayist, and teacher currently pursuing an MA in Literature at MTSU. Before relocating to Murfreesboro, Aaron performed as an adjunct member of the street poetry troupe the Guerrilla Poets, and at spoken word venues in Boston and New York. His poems have appeared in The Mangrove Review, Speak These Words: A Guerrilla Poets’ Anthology, and Collage. He also has a chapter forthcoming in Thomson Wadsworth’s The Pop Culture Zone. Aaron is a recipient of the Michael Hauptman Poetry Prize, a Vermont Studio Center Fellowship, a Paul Muldoon Poetry Fellowship and the TLA Freedom of Information Award.
Aaron has presented poetry writing and journaling workshops for the Express Yourself Arts Conference in 2007 and 2008. He will also be leading workshops at the 2010 conference on poetry, and co-leading at Poetry Slam workshop with YouthSpeaks Nashville.
