Carolyn Peebles

Congratulations
to our January 2009
Shining Star Volunteer, Carolyn Peebles
Carolyn is a very valuable behind the scenes volunteer for Read To Succeed. Carolyn is responsible for maintaining our financial records so we know where we stand with our budget and to ensure accurate accounting for audits and financial reporting. Carolyn’s in-kind accounting expertise has allowed Read To Succeed staff to focus on what they know best—literacy—with the peace of mind that everything is being taken care of with proficiency and care. Not only is Carolyn blessing us, but she has devoted her lively hood to providing “professional, affordable, personalized and efficient accounting, secretarial and consulting services to individuals, church ministries and small businesses” through her company My Father’s Business.
Carolyn Peebles is the proud mother to three children and a wonderful loving grandmother to five grandchildren. Her pets aren’t four legged with fur, instead they have gills and enjoy swimming. Carolyn has a fresh water and salt water aquarium with many brightly colored and interesting fish that she enjoys watching, which she says helps her to relax.
In addition to her volunteer service with Read To Succeed, Carolyn also serves on the Board of Directors for MTEMC Customer Cares.
Carolyn enjoys volunteering “because the Word of God says . . . Give and It Shall Be Given Unto You.” She also created her accounting/secretarial business “My Father’s Business” with that in mind.
She also feels literacy matters “because knowledge is empowering. We learn, move and have our being through information.” Carolyn also exemplifies the power of literacy as a writer. She has written two books—Planning with Passion . . . Getting the Most Out of Your Day and Life and FOCUS Workbook. . . Your Step-by-Step Guide to Successful Planning.
Her skills with planning have enabled her to travel widely and assist many churches with their budgeting and business planning. In addition she teaches FOCUS Planning classes 2-3 times year, which is certified by MTSU Continuing Education Class for 2 CEU credits.
When traveling and through daily live, Carolyn likes to keep her mascots close at hand—three stuffed bears named Purpose, Vision and Focus.
When asked to share a quote or words of wisdom, this is the advice Carolyn gave “WOW—that is the acroustic when I want to give people a Word of Wisdom. Because I am passionate about planning and being intentional about life itself . . . my favorite quote is . . “On This Day, I Will Do At Least One Thing That Advances Toward The Achievement Of At Least One Of My Goals.”
Wonderful words to read and live by!
